NZHTA Pānui 6, 2026

Tēnā koutou katoa,

We await the release of Phase 5 History | Te Takanga o te Wā which is in the Tranche 3 release of subjects from the Ministry. It is a shared curriculum area between NZC and TMoA.  This is set to go live on Tāhurangi for sector consultation on 6 July. It is a short feedback window of only 4 weeks so there will be plenty of info and support from NZHTA to unpack this curriculum document when its released and prepare submissions via a survey.

In this pānui:

  • Could you be the next NZHTA Kaiārahi ???

  • Constitution voting reminder

  • NZHTA ‘History Matters’ Series

  • Upcoming NZHTA workshop in Tauranga

Take care and reach out to me as always with any help you need.

Ngā mihi

Nick Fitness, NZHTA Kaiārahi

Could you be the next NZHTA Kaiārahi ???

NZHTA needs an experienced and enthusiastic history kaiako to take on the Kaiārahi role for 2027. You can find out more by reading our advertisement here which also has a job description linked. You can also email me to find out more about the role. Applications will close on Friday 7th August.

Constitution voting reminder

Please don’t forget to vote! These changes reflect the commitment that NZHTA made at the 2023 Conference to ensure that we, as an organisation, are Te Tīriti honouring.

Here are the proposed constitution changes to view. Here is a recorded webinar to familiarise NZHTA members with the proposed changes to our constitution. This was also presented to members at the NZHTA Conference in April. Voting will close on 6 July 2026.
